Title: Best way to check proxy for speed and anonymity?
Hey guys,
So I’ve been trying to check proxy servers for speed and anonymity, but not sure what tools or methods are the best.
I’ve used a few sites to check proxy speed, but some seem sketchy or give inconsistent results.
Also, how do you *really* check proxy anonymity? Like, does it leak your IP or just pretend to hide it?
Any tips or favorite tools? Free is ideal, but don’t mind paying if it’s worth it.
Thx in advance!
(Also, sorry for typos, on mobile lol)
I usually use iphey.com to check proxy speed and anonymity. It's free and shows if your real IP is leaking.
For deeper checks, try whoer.net—it gives a breakdown of headers and DNS leaks.
Speed-wise, just ping the proxy or use speedtest.net with the proxy enabled. Not perfect, but gets the job done.
Btw, avoid random free proxy checkers—some log your data.
Honestly, most free tools to check proxy speed are hit or miss.
I’ve had good luck with proxybench.com—it tests multiple proxies at once and ranks them by speed.
For anonymity, ipleak.net is my go-to. Shows if your real IP sneaks through.
Paid option: luminati.io (now brightdata) has solid tools if you’re serious about proxies.
Hey, mobile typos are relatable lol.
To check proxy speed, I just use ping.pe—simple and works everywhere.
Anonymity? dnsleaktest.com is clutch. Run the extended test to see if your proxy is actually hiding you.
Also, avoid HTTP proxies if you care about leaks. SOCKS5 is way better.
Kinda surprised no one mentioned hidemy.name yet.
Their free checker gives speed + anonymity stats.
For a deeper dive, proxy-checker.online tests for headers, cookies, and even blacklists.
Speed tests can be flaky tho—try testing at different times for consistency.
Wow, thanks for all the suggestions!
Tried ipleak.net and browserleaks.com—super helpful to see the leaks I didn’t even know about.
Also tested a few proxies with ping.pe, and yeah, some are *way* slower than others.
One follow-up: anyone know a good way to automate these checks? Like a script or something?
(And thx for not roasting my mobile typos lol)
If you’re on Windows, ProxyCap is a solid tool to check proxy speed and leaks.
For web-based, whatismyipaddress.com/proxy-check is decent.
But honestly, the best way is to test manually:
- Load a site like icanhazip.com with and without the proxy.
- Compare the IPs.
No tool needed if you’re paranoid like me.
Free tools are okay, but they often miss subtle leaks.
I use proxydocker.com—it’s a one-stop shop to check proxy speed, anonymity, and even geolocation.
For speed, run a download test from a server close to the proxy location.
And always, *always* check for WebRTC leaks. Most proxies fail there.
For a quick check proxy test, I just google "what is my IP" and see if it matches the proxy.
Speed? librespeed.org is lightweight and doesn’t require Flash.
Anonymity tools like ipleak.org are gold. They show if your proxy is leaking DNS or other info.
Also, avoid public proxies if you care about speed—they’re almost always slow.
