Caine & Weiner are calling my family about my debt. Is this even legal?

I’m at my wits' end and hoping someone here has been through this. I've been getting calls from Caine & Weiner for a few weeks now, which has been stressful enough. But today, they crossed a line. My mother called me, upset, because they had contacted her and basically told her why they were calling.

I thought debt collectors weren't allowed to discuss your debt with anyone but you. I felt so humiliated and angry. I started looking into them online to see if I had any rights at all. I came across this page that explains exactly what they're known for: Stop Caine & Weiner Debt Collection Harassment

Turns out, they have a history of these tactics, including two class-action lawsuits over illegal practices in their collection letters. According to what I read, them discussing my debt with my mom is a clear violation of federal law. It also explained their whole setup—how they use technology to call at peak harassment times and sometimes even pose as your original creditor.

I'm planning to document everything now and send a formal cease-and-desist letter. Has anyone else had them contact their family or friends? What did you do? Any advice would really help.
