Can someone explain the HTTP proxy meaning and how it works in simple terms?

Wow, thanks so much for all the replies! I tried using KProxy like one of you suggested, and it worked pretty well. I’m still a bit confused about how caching works, though—does it mean the proxy stores stuff so it loads faster next time? Also, are there any risks with using free proxies?
