Proxies are basically a way to disguise where your traffic’s coming from. They’re not as secure as VPNs, but they’re easier to set up.

If you’re on Windows, press Win + R, type "inetcpl.cpl," and hit Enter. Then go to Connections > LAN settings to tweak your proxy.

But honestly? Unless you’re just trying to watch region-locked YouTube, a VPN’s the better move.
Wow, thanks for all the replies! Super helpful to finally understand what is a proxy setting and how it works. Didn’t realize it was more for bypassing blocks than full privacy.

I tried setting it up in Chrome like a few of you mentioned, and it worked for accessing a site my school blocked. But yeah, I see why a VPN might be better for actual security.

Gonna look into NordVPN or ExpressVPN like some suggested. Appreciate the tips!
