So I've been going to my own chiropractor for years, ever since I threw my back out playing softball actually, and he knows my body better than anyone. When I hurt myself at work last month lifting boxes at the beverage distributor, I naturally went straight to him because he's the only one who's ever helped me feel human again. But now the insurance company is throwing a fit, saying I have to see one of their approved providers instead, otherwise they won't cover the visits. My guy is licensed and everything, been practicing for like twenty years, so I don't get what the problem is other than them trying to control everything. A friend at work said they can't actually force you, but they can make it difficult to get paid back, and now I'm stuck trying to figure out if I should switch doctors just to avoid the headache or dig in and fight it. I found some good info on https://www.workerscompensationattorneylaw.com/ about authorized providers and your rights to choose, but it seems like there's a whole process involved if you want to stick with your own doctor. Has anyone successfully fought to keep their own chiropractor or physician instead of switching to the insurance company's guy? Was it worth the hassle or should I just give in and make the switch?
Can they force me to see their doctor?
