"Anyone else having issues with the IE legacy plugin for Edge?"
Hey folks,
So I’ve been trying to use the ie legacy plugin for edge to load some old work sites, but it’s been super hit or miss lately. Some pages just refuse to load, or they crash after a few seconds.
Is it just me or is this thing getting less reliable? I know Microsoft’s been pushing to kill off IE stuff, but I still *need* it for a few legacy systems.
Anyone found a workaround? Or is there a better alternative now?

Yeah, same here. The ie legacy plugin for edge has been acting up for me too. Pages either load super slow or just freeze.
I found that clearing Edge's cache and disabling other extensions sometimes helps. Also, try running Edge in admin mode—weirdly, that fixed it for me once.
If you're still stuck, maybe check out Browsium Ion. It's a paid tool, but it handles legacy IE stuff better than Microsoft's built-in solution.

My workaround? I switched to using a virtual machine with an old Windows version + actual IE11. Pain to set up, but at least it’s stable.
If you don’t wanna go that far, maybe try Enterprise Mode Site List in Edge? It’s clunky but might help for specific sites.
Not just you! The ie legacy plugin for edge has been flaky for months.
One thing that worked for me: go to edge://flags and disable "Enable IE Integration." Then re-enable it. Sounds dumb, but it reset something and pages started loading again.
Otherwise, maybe give Pale Moon browser a shot? It’s got decent legacy support.

Try adding the sites to Edge’s "Internet Explorer mode pages" list manually. Sometimes the auto-detect just doesn’t cut it.
If all else fails, there’s always Chrome with the IE Tab extension—kinda janky but gets the job done.

Yep, same issues here. The ie legacy plugin for edge is basically a coin toss these days.
My IT dept rolled out Supermium recently—it’s a Chromium fork with better IE compatibility. Might be worth a look if you’re desperate.

Try resetting Edge’s settings (edge://settings/reset). Fixed some weird behavior for me.
If you’re tech-savvy, you could also mess with the registry to force IE mode, but that’s a last resort.

Yup, it’s a dumpster fire. The plugin worked fine until last month, now it’s useless.
Try running the sites in Edge’s "IE mode" directly instead of relying on the plugin. Go to edge://settings/defaultBrowser and set it to "Allow."
If that fails, maybe check out Firefox with an IE emulator add-on? Not perfect but better than nothing.
