Subject: Got this "webshare scam email"—anyone else seen it?
Hey guys, just got this weird email claiming to be from "webshare" about some file sharing thing. Looks super sketchy tbh.
Subject line was like *"Urgent: Download your files before they expire!"* but I never even used webshare lol.
Anyone else get this webshare scam email? How do you spot if it's legit or just phishing? The link looks dodgy af.
Also, the sender's email was some random @gmail addy, not even @webshare.com. Big red flag?
Thanks for any tips!
Yeah, definitely a webshare scam email. I got the same one last week. The link looked super shady, so I just deleted it.
A good trick is to hover over the link (don’t click!) and check the URL. If it’s not the official webshare domain, it’s 100% phishing.
Also, never trust emails from @gmail or other free domains when they claim to be from a company. Legit businesses use their own domain.
Stay safe!
omg i got this webshare scam email too!! it was like "your files will be deleted in 24 hrs" but i never even used webshare lol.
i reported it as spam and blocked the sender.
if ur not sure, u can always check the official webshare site or contact their support. but this one’s def fake.
This is a classic phishing attempt. The webshare scam email is designed to panic you into clicking.
A few red flags:
- Random sender email (@gmail instead of @webshare.com)
- Urgent language ("download now or lose your files!")
- Unsolicited message (you never used their service)
Tools like VirusTotal or PhishTank can help verify suspicious links. Never click!
Yup, got the same webshare scam email. Total BS.
The sender’s address is the biggest giveaway—no legit company uses Gmail for official stuff.
If you’re curious, forward it to report@phishing.gov.uk (or your country’s anti-phishing org). Helps take these scammers down.
Thanks everyone! Yeah, I didn’t click the link, but I forwarded the webshare scam email to my provider’s abuse team.
Good tip about hovering over the link—did that and it was some random .xyz domain. Super sketchy.
Might run a scan just in case, but glad I’m not the only one who got this. Appreciate the help!
Lol this webshare scam email is going around like crazy. My cousin got it too.
The link probably leads to malware or a fake login page. If you accidentally clicked it, run a virus scan ASAP.
Also, enable 2FA on your important accounts. Scammers can’t do much if they don’t have your second auth factor.
I’ve seen this webshare scam email before. It’s a phishing attempt to steal your info or install malware.
Always check the sender’s email and look for typos in the message. Scammers often mess up small details.
If you’re unsure, search for the email subject online—usually, others have already flagged it as a scam.
