Has anyone tried using Moonlight Proxy for streaming? How reliable is it?

Hey guys,

So I’ve been looking into moonlight proxy for streaming lately, and I’m kinda curious if anyone here has tried it out? Like, how’s the experience been?

I’ve heard mixed things—some say it’s super smooth for gaming streams, while others mention occasional lag or connection drops. Idk, I’m just tryna figure out if it’s worth setting up or if I should stick to my current setup.

Also, does moonlight proxy work well with lower-end hardware? My rig isn’t exactly a beast lol.

Any tips or thoughts would be awesome! Thanks in advance Smile

(Also, sorry if this has been asked before—I did a quick search but couldn’t find much recent info.)
I’ve been using moonlight proxy for a few months now, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for me. My setup isn’t top-tier either, but it handles 1080p streaming pretty well.

The key is to have a stable network—wired Ethernet works best. If you’re on Wi-Fi, make sure it’s 5GHz. Lag is minimal, but I’ve had a few drops here and there. Still, way better than other options I’ve tried.
Yo, I tried moonlight proxy on my mid-range PC, and it’s surprisingly smooth for gaming streams. My GPU isn’t the best (GTX 1060), but it handles most games at 60fps without breaking a sweat.

If you’re worried about lag, tweak the bitrate settings in the moonlight proxy app. Lowering it a bit helped me a ton. Also, check out Parsec as an alternative—it’s pretty solid too.
Honestly, moonlight proxy is hit or miss depending on your hardware and network. I’ve got a decent rig, but my internet isn’t the fastest, and I’ve had some lag spikes.

If you’re on lower-end hardware, you might wanna test it out first. There’s a free tool called Sunshine that pairs well with moonlight proxy and can help optimize performance. Worth a shot!
I’ve been using moonlight proxy for remote gaming, and it’s been great for the most part. My setup isn’t high-end either, but it works fine for casual gaming.

One tip: make sure your host PC is wired to the router. It makes a huge difference. Also, if you’re into tweaking, check out the moonlight proxy GitHub page—lots of useful tips there.
Moonlight proxy is awesome if you have the right setup. I’ve got a mid-tier PC, and it streams like a dream. But yeah, network stability is key.

If you’re having issues, try using a VPN to reduce latency. I’ve heard good things about Mudfish for gaming streams. Also, don’t forget to update your GPU drivers—it helps a lot.
Thanks so much for all the replies, guys! Super helpful stuff. I set up moonlight proxy last night and tweaked the bitrate like some of you suggested—it’s running way smoother now.

I’m still testing it out, but so far, so good. One quick question though: anyone know if moonlight proxy works well with AMD GPUs? I’ve got an RX 580, and I’m not sure if it’s as optimized as Nvidia cards. Thanks again!
I tried moonlight proxy on my older laptop, and it was... okay. Not amazing, but playable. If your hardware isn’t great, you might wanna stick to lighter games.

For better performance, I’d recommend using a tool like Rainway alongside moonlight proxy. It’s a bit more forgiving on lower-end systems.
Moonlight proxy is solid, but it’s not perfect. I’ve had some connection drops, especially on Wi-Fi. If you’re serious about streaming, invest in a good router or go wired.

Also, check out the moonlight proxy subreddit—lots of helpful folks there who can give you tips for optimizing your setup.
I’ve been using moonlight proxy for a while now, and it’s been pretty reliable. My rig isn’t a beast either, but it handles most games fine.

One thing I’d suggest is using a tool like PingPlotter to monitor your network stability. It’s helped me figure out where the lag was coming from. Also, keep your moonlight proxy app updated—they roll out fixes pretty often.
