tried googling but all the guides are way too technical. anyone know how do i remove proxy settings without messing anything else up?

hey! had the same issue last week. how do i remove proxy settings? super easy fix—just go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.

turn off anything that says "use a proxy server."

also, run a malware scan just in case. sometimes sketchy stuff turns it on without you knowing.

ugh proxies are the worst. if you're on win10/11, try this:

1. hit win + r, type "inetcpl.cpl" (no quotes)
2. go to connections > lan settings
3. uncheck "use a proxy server"

if it’s grayed out, might be malware. malwarebytes is free and works great for cleaning that up.

`netsh winhttp reset proxy`

restart after. fixes it most of the time. if not, check your browser settings too—sometimes they override system ones.

if you’re on mac, it’s in system prefs > network > advanced > proxies.

uncheck everything except "auto proxy discovery" if you need it.

for windows, like others said, inetcpl.cpl is the way.

make sure "automatically detect settings" is on and proxy server is OFF.

hey! for a no-code fix, try using a tool like "proxycap" to see what’s forcing the proxy.

or just nuke it with:
- settings > network & internet > proxy > disable all
- browser settings > reset to default
