"Can You Turn Off LinkedIn Data Scraping? Here’s What I Found"
Hey everyone! So I’ve been kinda paranoid about my LinkedIn profile getting scraped lately. Like, is there *any* way to turn off LinkedIn data scraping completely? Or at least make it harder?
From what I’ve dug up, you can’t *fully* stop it (ugh), but you can limit it:
- Set your profile to private mode (go to Settings > Visibility).
- Don’t use a public profile pic (weird tip, but helps).
- Turn off "Viewers of this profile also viewed" in privacy settings.
Still, bots gonna bot, ya know? Anyone else found better tricks to turn off LinkedIn data scraping? Or are we all just stuck with it?
*Also, sorry for typos—typed this on my phone lol.*
Yeah, scraping is a pain. I’ve heard some folks use tools like PhantomBuster or Octoparse to scrape data, but ironically, you can also use them to *protect* your info.
Try setting up a Google Alert for your name + LinkedIn—sounds weird, but it helps catch if your data’s floating around. Also, turning off LinkedIn data scraping entirely? Nah. But making your profile less searchable helps.
Btw, check out "DeleteMe" if you wanna scrub your deets from other sites too.
Ugh, same issue here. I tried everything—private mode, no pic, even deleted old posts. Still got bots lurking.
Found this site called "Hunter.io" that lets you see if your email’s been scraped. Not perfect, but better than nothing.
Honestly, LinkedIn’s privacy settings are a joke. They wanna keep us "visible" for their own $$.
If you’re *really* paranoid, ditch the headline and summary. Scrapers love that stuff.
Also, random tip: change your name slightly (like add a middle initial). Makes it harder for bots to connect the dots.
No way to fully turn off LinkedIn data scraping, but you can at least mess with their algorithms lol.
I use a burner email for LinkedIn. Not foolproof, but cuts down on spam.
Also, check out "Have I Been Pwned" to see if your data’s already out there.
Kinda wild we gotta jump through hoops just to turn off LinkedIn data scraping. Like, why isn’t this a default setting??
Pro tip: Set your profile to "only visible to connections." It’s buried in settings, but helps.
Also, avoid endorsements—they’re basically scraping bait.
Wish there was a magic button to turn off LinkedIn data scraping, but until then, gotta play defense.
Thanks for all the tips, guys! Didn’t know about half these tools.
Tried the private mode thing—already got fewer random connection requests. Still sucks that we can’t fully turn off LinkedIn data scraping, but hey, progress.
Gonna check out "DeleteMe" and "Have I Been Pwned" later. Appreciate the help!
(Also, yeah, my typos are *legendary* at this point.)
Fun fact: Scrapers hate CAPTCHAs. Too bad LinkedIn doesn’t use ’em.
I’ve seen some folks use "LinkLock" to password-protect their profile links. Not sure if it works, but worth a shot?
Either way, you’re right—bots gonna bot.
Here’s a nuclear option: delete your profile.
Kidding (kinda). But seriously, if you’re not job hunting, why keep it public?
Also, "DataGrail" is a cool tool for tracking where your info ends up. Not free, but handy.
Lol at "don’t use a public pic." Guess I’ll be a silhouette forever.
Jokes aside, I’ve heard "Spokeo" can help find and remove scraped data. Never tried it though.
Anyone know if LinkedIn’s *actually* working on fixes? Or just pretending?
