"Stuck with a Proxy Server? How to Disable It Properly?"
Ugh, so annoyed rn. My internet’s crawling like a snail, and I think it’s cuz of some dumb proxy server.
Anyone know *proxy server how to disable* without losing my mind? Tried googling but half the guides are outdated or too techy.
Windows 10 btw, but Mac tips welcome too—might help others!
Pls, step-by-step like I’m 5. Or just tell me if there’s a quick fix.
(Also, why do these things turn on by themselves?? Smh.)

Hey! Had the same issue last week. For Windows 10, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
Under "Manual proxy setup," toggle off "Use a proxy server."
Sometimes it’s a sneaky app that turns it on. Check for malware with Malwarebytes—it’s free and easy.
For Mac, it’s in System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies. Uncheck the boxes there.

omg proxy servers are the worst. If the basic toggle doesn’t work, try this:
1. Press Win + R, type "inetcpl.cpl," hit Enter.
2. Go to Connections > LAN settings.
3. Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN."
Also, run a quick scan with CCleaner—sometimes leftover junk messes with settings.

If you’re on Windows, try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.
It’ll reboot your adapters and might kick the proxy out.
For Mac, sudo commands in Terminal can help but that’s kinda advanced. Maybe try the GUI first lol.

Chrome: Settings > System > Open proxy settings (it’ll take you to the Windows one).
Firefox: Options > General > Network Settings > No proxy.

If you’re still stuck, try this nuclear option:
1. Open Command Prompt as admin.
2. Type "netsh winsock reset" and hit Enter.
3. Restart.
This resets all network configs, including rogue proxies.
For Mac, the equivalent is "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder" in Terminal.
