"Struggling with how to turn VPN off on iPhone – any tips?"
Hey guys! So I’m kinda stuck here lol.
I turned on a VPN earlier (forgot which app even), and now I can’t figure out how to turn VPN off on iPhone. Like, it’s still running, and I don’t need it rn.
Checked Settings > General > VPN, but it’s not showing up?? Am I missing something obvious?
Or do I gotta delete the app entirely? Pls help a confused soul out 😅
Thanks in advance!
(Also, if you know a quicker way, lmk!)
Hey! If you're wondering how to turn vpn off on iphone, try swiping down for Control Center. Some VPN apps add a toggle there—look for the VPN icon (usually a key or shield).
If it’s not there, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN. Sometimes it hides there instead.
Still nothing? Might’ve been a temp connection. Try restarting your phone—sounds basic but works often lol.
omg i had this EXACT issue last week! The VPN was on but not showing in settings. Turns out, I used a free trial app that auto-disconnected after 24 hrs.
Check your app library for any VPN apps you forgot about. If you find one, open it and disable it there.
Also, if you’re using something like Cloudflare WARP, it’s sneaky—you gotta turn it off IN the app. Hope that helps!
For real tho, how to turn vpn off on iphone can be a pain if the app’s being weird. Here’s what I’d do:
1. Open Settings > tap your name at the top > look for "VPN Configurations" (if it’s there, delete it).
2. No luck? Go to Settings > General > Profiles (if you see a VPN profile, remove it).
Some VPNs install profiles that don’t show up normally. Lmk if this works!
Bro, just delete the app. If the VPN’s ghosting you in settings, the app might’ve left a background process.
After deleting, restart your phone. 99% of the time, that kills the VPN.
If you’re paranoid, check Settings > Cellular > see if any weird apps are using data (could be the VPN still running).
Ugh, VPNs can be so glitchy on iPhone. If you’re stuck on how to turn vpn off on iphone, try this:
- Force close ALL apps (even the ones you don’t think are VPNs).
- Go to Settings > Network settings > Reset Network Settings (this wipes VPNs but also Wi-Fi passwords, so be warned).
Last resort: backup and factory reset. But that’s nuclear lol.
Yo thanks everyone!! Turns out it WAS a profile thing—found it under General > Profiles (didn’t even know that was a tab smh). Deleted it and the VPN finally shut off.
Btw, the app was some random free one I downloaded ages ago. Lesson learned lol.
Quick q tho: If I reinstall the app later, will it auto-add the profile again? Or is that a setting I can disable?
Quick tip: If the VPN’s from a browser (like Opera), it won’t show in iPhone settings. You’d need to open the browser and disable it there.
Also, some VPNs (looking at you, NordVPN) have a "kill switch" that keeps it on until you manually turn it off in-app.
Maybe list the apps you’ve used recently? Could narrow it down.
lol this happened to me with ExpressVPN. The app said it was off, but my IP was still hidden.
Fix: Uninstall the app AND go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > remove any leftover profiles.
Also, check for updates—some VPNs bug out on older iOS versions.
