"Is My Proxy Server Slow or Is It Just Me? Troubleshooting Tips Needed!"

Hey folks!

Sooo my proxy server has been crawling lately, and I can't tell if it's just me or if something's up. Pages take forever to load, and sometimes it just times out. Ugh.

I’ve tried restarting it, but no luck. Anyone else dealing with this? Or maybe some quick fixes I’m missing?

- Is it my internet? (But everything else works fine...)
- Could it be the proxy settings?
- Or is the server itself just overloaded?

Help a frustrated human out! 😅

(Also, if you’ve got tips to speed it up, I’m all ears!)

Thanks in advance! 🚀
Hey! I’ve had the same issue with my proxy server before. First thing I’d check is the location of the proxy—sometimes it’s just too far from you, causing lag.

Try using a tool like Pingdom or GTmetrix to test the speed. Also, if you’re using a free proxy, that might be the problem. They’re often overloaded.

Maybe switch to a paid one like NordVPN or Smartproxy? Works way better for me.
Ugh, proxy struggles are the worst! 😤 My proxy server was super slow last week, and turns out it was a DNS issue.

Try flushing your DNS cache (google how to do it for your OS). Also, check if your proxy provider has status updates—sometimes their servers are just down.

If all else fails, restart your router. Sounds basic, but it’s saved me more times than I’d like to admit.
Yo! Had this exact problem. My proxy server was crawling until I realized my browser extensions were messing with it.

Disabled a few sketchy ones, and boom—back to normal. Also, try changing the proxy port? Sometimes the default one gets clogged.

Tools like ProxyBench can help you test different setups. Hope that helps!
Honestly, my proxy server acts up when too many devices are connected. Could that be your issue?

Check your network traffic with something like Wireshark (it’s free). If you see weird spikes, something’s hogging bandwidth.

Also, maybe your ISP is throttling proxy traffic. Try a VPN to bypass it. Just a thought!
Bro, same! My proxy server was a snail until I tweaked the MTU settings. No idea what that is? Google “optimal MTU for proxy”—it’s a game-changer.

Also, test your proxy speed with ProxySpeedTest.com. If it’s still slow, might be time to switch providers. I ditched mine for Luminati, and no regrets.
Wow, thanks for all the tips, everyone! 🙌 Tried flushing the DNS and disabling extensions, and my proxy server is already doing better.

Still gonna test with ProxySpeedTest later—didn’t even know that existed!

One follow-up: anyone know if time of day affects proxy speed? Mine seems worse in the evenings. 🤔
Hey! Quick tip—my proxy server was slow because the cache was bloated. Cleared it manually (check your proxy settings for how), and it’s way faster now.

Also, try switching protocols (HTTP to SOCKS5 or vice versa). Some just work better depending on your use case.

If you’re still stuck, maybe post your proxy config (hide sensitive stuff) so we can peek?
