"Anyone Else Using SwitchOmega? What’s Your Experience?"
Hey folks!
Been using SwitchOmega for a while to juggle my work/personal profiles on Chrome. It’s been pretty solid, but lately I’ve noticed some lag when switching.
Anyone else running into this? Or is it just my setup being weird?
Also, does it still play nice with the latest Chrome updates? Heard some extensions got borked recently.
Kinda curious if there are better alternatives now or if SwitchOmega’s still the go-to.
Thanks!

Yeah, I’ve been using SwitchOmega for years, and it’s been my go-to for profile switching.
Noticed the lag too, especially after Chrome’s last update. Might be a memory leak or something?
For alternatives, check out SessionBox or MultiLogin. They’re a bit heavier but way smoother for multiple profiles.
Also, try clearing your cache—sometimes that fixes the lag for me.
SwitchOmega is still solid, but the lag is real.
I switched to Firefox Containers for work/personal stuff, and it’s way faster.
Chrome’s been weird with extensions lately, so maybe it’s not just SwitchOmega’s fault.
If you’re stuck on Chrome, maybe give ProfileSwitcher a shot? Heard good things.
Honestly, SwitchOmega’s been hit or miss for me.
The lag got so bad I just started using separate Chrome windows for each profile. Not ideal, but it works.
Anyone know if the devs are still active? Feels like updates are rare.
For alternatives, maybe check out Workona? It’s more than just profile switching, but it’s slick.
SwitchOmega’s been my daily driver, but yeah, the latest Chrome updates messed with it.
Try disabling other extensions to see if one’s conflicting.
If you’re open to trying something new, Session Buddy is great for managing tabs/profiles.
Still, nothing beats SwitchOmega’s simplicity when it works right.
OP here—thanks for all the suggestions!
Tried disabling hardware acceleration like someone mentioned, and it’s way faster now. Still not perfect, but better.
Gonna test out SessionBox too since a few of you recommended it.
Anyone know if SwitchOmega’s devs are planning updates? Feels like it’s been ages.
Lag city over here too!
SwitchOmega used to be instant, but now it’s like waiting for dial-up.
Switched to Firefox + Multi-Account Containers, and it’s a game-changer.
Chrome’s extension support feels like it’s going downhill, tbh.
SwitchOmega’s still my favorite, but the lag is annoying.
Found a weird fix—disable hardware acceleration in Chrome. No idea why it helps, but it does.
Also, the dev version of SwitchOmega seems snappier. Might be worth a shot.
Alternatives? Meh, nothing’s as lightweight imo.
