Is Switchy Omega still the best proxy switcher for Chrome? or How do you set up Switchy Omega for mul

"Anyone else having issues with Switchy Omega after Chrome updates?"

Hey folks,

Is it just me or has Switchy Omega been acting weird since the latest Chrome update? My proxy profiles keep disappearing, and sometimes it just straight-up crashes.

I’ve been using it for years without problems, but now it’s kinda glitchy. Tried reinstalling, but no luck.

Anyone found a fix or is it time to jump ship?

"How do you set up Switchy Omega for multiple proxy profiles?"

Yo,

Trying to set up Switchy Omega with like 5 different proxies for work. Got the basics down, but adding multiple profiles feels clunky.

Do you guys just duplicate them one by one? Or is there a smarter way to batch import or something?

Also, naming them is a pain—wish there was a quicker way lol.

Tips appreciated!

"What are the best alternatives to Switchy Omega these days?"

Switchy Omega’s been my go-to, but it’s feeling a bit outdated now.

What’s everyone using these days? Need something reliable for quick proxy swaps.

Heard about FoxyProxy, but not sure if it’s as flexible. Any other recs?

Bonus if it works smoothly with Chrome’s latest versions.

Let me know if you want any tweaks!
Yeah, same here! Switchy Omega has been a mess since Chrome v120.

I found a temp fix—disable Chrome’s "Hardware Acceleration" in settings. Seems to reduce crashes for now.

Also, backup your profiles manually (export them) before reinstalling. Lost mine twice before learning that lesson lol.

If it keeps acting up, maybe try Proxy SwitchySharp as a fallback? Not as fancy but still works.
Ugh, glad it’s not just me.

Switchy Omega’s been flaky for weeks. Tried rolling back Chrome to v119 and it worked better, but auto-updates screwed me again.

Someone on GitHub mentioned the devs abandoned it? Might be time to switch.

FoxyProxy Basic is decent, but lacks the profile groups. Sucks because Switchy Omega was perfect for this.
For multiple proxies, yeah, it’s a pain.

But you can export a profile, tweak the JSON, and re-import it with new names/servers. Saves time vs clicking through everything.

Here’s a quick guide I used: [link to proxy setup blog].

Still clunky, but faster than manual dupes. Switchy Omega really needs a bulk editor though.
Honestly, Switchy Omega feels like it’s on life support.

I switched to SmartProxy recently—way cleaner UI and auto-rotates proxies. Not free, but worth it if you’re juggling work stuff.

For free options, Proxy Helper (Chrome extension) is lightweight. Doesn’t do everything Switchy Omega did, but at least it’s stable.
Pro tip: Use "Profile Chains" in Switchy Omega for multiple proxies.

Set up one master profile, then chain others under it. Saves clicks when swapping.

Still gotta name them manually, but it’s less messy than duping.

Wish they’d add CSV imports though.
Switchy Omega’s GitHub has a fork called "Omega-Updated." Some folks patched it for newer Chrome versions.

Haven’t tested it myself, but might be worth a shot before ditching it completely.

Backup your data first—forks can be buggy.
Thanks for the tips, everyone!

Disabled hardware accel like someone suggested, and it’s way more stable now. Still kinda slow though.

Gonna test that Omega-Updated fork next—fingers crossed.

If that fails, Proxyium looks promising. Appreciate the recs!
If you’re done with Switchy Omega, check out Proxyium.

Works with Chrome’s latest updates, and the rule-based switching is solid.

Downside? No profile backups (yet). But it’s actively developed, unlike Omega.
