"Is browser Waterfox still worth it for privacy in 2024?"
Honestly, I’ve been using browser Waterfox for a while now, and I’m kinda torn. It’s got that old-school Firefox vibe with more customization, which I LOVE. But lately, I’m hearing mixed things—like, is it still keeping up with privacy standards?
Some folks swear by it, others say it’s fallen behind. The fact that it’s based on Firefox ESR is cool for stability, but does that mean slower updates for security fixes? Idk, man.
And customization? Still solid. You can tweak it to death, which is great if you’re into that. But if privacy’s your #1 concern, maybe there are fresher options now?
What’s your take? Still rocking browser Waterfox, or moved on?
I switched from browser Waterfox to LibreWolf last year and haven’t looked back. Waterfox is decent, but LibreWolf feels more up-to-date with privacy tweaks out of the box.
If you’re into customization, sure, Waterfox wins. But for pure privacy? There are better options now. Check out privacytools.io for comparisons.
Still using browser Waterfox here! The ESR base is a double-edged sword—slower updates, but also fewer surprises.
For privacy, I just add uBlock Origin and tweak the settings. Works fine for me. If you want bleeding-edge, maybe try Firefox with arkenfox user.js.
Honestly, browser Waterfox feels like it’s stuck in 2020. The privacy scene has moved on.
If you’re serious about it, look into Tor Browser or even Brave. Waterfox’s just not keeping up like it used to.
I dunno, man. Browser Waterfox is my go-to for nostalgia + customization. Privacy-wise, it’s… okay?
But if you’re paranoid, pair it with a VPN and some extensions. Not perfect, but it gets the job done.
Waterfox’s big selling point was being Firefox without the bloat. Now? Meh.
Firefox itself is leaner these days, and projects like LibreWolf are more focused on privacy. Waterfox feels like it’s lost its edge.
If you love tweaking, browser Waterfox is still fun. But for *just* privacy? Nah.
Check out Mullvad Browser—it’s like Tor but without the speed hit. Waterfox can’t compete with that.
Waterfox is fine if you’re casual about privacy. But if you’re hardcore, it’s not enough.
I switched to hardened Firefox + containers. Way more control. Waterfox’s customization doesn’t make up for its slow updates.
Browser Waterfox is like that old car you love but know you should replace.
It works, but newer options (like LibreWolf) are just better for privacy. Still, if you’re attached, it’s not *bad*.
Wow, didn’t expect so many replies! Thanks, everyone.
I’m gonna test LibreWolf and Mullvad Browser based on your suggestions. Waterfox’s customization is sweet, but if privacy’s lagging, it’s not worth it.
Anyone got tips for migrating bookmarks/extensions from Waterfox to these? Don’t wanna lose my setup.
