I've been getting multiple calls from the Law Offices of Crystal Moroney, P.C. over the past few weeks. They leave voicemails but I haven't called back yet because I'm not sure if this is legitimate or a scam.
From what I've gathered, they seem to be a debt collection law firm based in New York. Has anyone else dealt with them? I'm worried about answering because I've heard horror stories about aggressive collection tactics. I also don't want to give out any personal information if this turns out to be a scam.
I know I have rights under the FDCPA and can request debt validation in writing, but I'm not sure what the best first step is. Should I answer their call? Send a certified letter asking for proof of the debt? Or ignore it and see if they send something in the mail?
Also curious if anyone knows if this firm is legitimate. I checked online and found an address in New City, NY but there seems to be conflicting information about their office locations.
Any advice from people who've been through this would be really helpful. I'm trying not to panic but the constant calls are stressing me out.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.
