"Got the 'your IP has been banned' error—what’s the reason and how to resolve it?"
Hey guys, so I just tried logging into a site and got hit with the *"your IP has been banned"* message outta nowhere. Wth? I wasn’t even doing anything sketchy lol.
Anyone know why this happens? Like, could it be cuz of too many login attempts, or maybe someone else on my network messed up?
Also, how do I fix this? Do I just restart my router to get a new IP, or is there another way?
Kinda annoying ngl. Appreciate any help!
(Also, if the site has a support contact, should I reach out or just wait it out?)
Thanks!
Hey! Getting the "your ip has been banned" error can be super frustrating, especially when you didn’t do anything wrong.
Common reasons:
- Too many failed login attempts (even if it wasn’t you, maybe someone else on your network).
- The site might’ve banned a range of IPs, and yours got caught in it.
- Shared IP (like if you’re on a VPN or public WiFi).
Quick fix? Restarting your router *might* work if your ISP assigns dynamic IPs. Otherwise, try using a VPN like ProtonVPN or Windscribe to get a new IP.
If the site’s important, yeah, hit up their support—sometimes bans are automated and they’ll lift it if you explain.
ugh, the "your ip has been banned" message is the worst. Happened to me last week!
In my case, it was cuz my dumb roommate kept spamming login attempts on the same site lol. If you’re on a shared network, someone else might’ve triggered it.
Try these:
- Restart router (works sometimes).
- Use your phone’s hotspot to check if it’s just your home IP.
- VPNs are a temp fix, but some sites block those too.
If it’s a site you use often, def contact support. They’re usually cool about it if it’s a mistake.
Yo, same thing happened to me! Got the "your ip has been banned" error on a forum for no reason.
Turns out the site had a buggy firewall that auto-banned legit users. Super annoying.
What worked for me:
1. Waited 24 hrs—sometimes bans are temporary.
2. Used a free proxy (like hide.me) to access the site and contact support.
3. They whitelisted my IP after I explained.
If restarting your router doesn’t help, try a different device or network. Also, check if your IP’s blacklisted using a tool like whatismyipaddress.com.
Lol classic "your ip has been banned" drama. Been there!
Could be:
- You triggered some anti-bot measure (like rapid clicks).
- Your IP was recycled and the last guy got banned.
- Site’s just overly aggressive with security.
Fix?
- Restart router (if dynamic IP).
- Try a mobile hotspot.
- VPN (but some sites detect and block those too).
If it’s a big site (like a game or social media), support might help. Smaller sites? Might be stuck waiting.
Thanks for all the replies, guys! Super helpful.
Tried restarting my router, but no luck—still getting the "your ip has been banned" error. Guess my ISP’s got sticky IPs lol.
Gonna try using my phone’s hotspot later to see if it’s just my home IP. Also shot a message to the site’s support with my IP (thanks for that tip!).
Quick Q: If I use a VPN, won’t the site just ban that IP too? Or do they usually lift the ban after a while?
Appreciate the help!
Got hit with the "your ip has been banned" error last month. Super annoying!
In my case, it was cuz my VPN’s IP was flagged. Some sites hate VPNs.
Things to try:
- Switch VPN servers or turn it off.
- Restart router (works if ISP gives new IP).
- Check if your IP’s blacklisted (ipvoid.com is handy).
If it’s a false ban, support’s your best bet. Include your IP (google "what’s my ip") in the ticket so they can check.
Hey! The "your ip has been banned" thing can happen for loads of reasons.
Maybe:
- Someone on your network messed up (roommate/kid?).
- You’re on a VPN/proxy the site hates.
- Site’s security is just overzealous.
Quick fixes:
- Restart router (might get new IP).
- Use a diff device/network to contact support.
- Try a VPN like TunnelBear (but some sites block em).
If it’s a temp ban, waiting a few hours might work. Otherwise, support’s the way to go.
