"Got the 'your ip has been temporarily blocked' message... what gives?"
Hey guys, so I was just browsing a site and suddenly got hit with the "your ip has been temporarily blocked" error. Super annoying, right?
Any idea why this happens? Too many login attempts? Or maybe the site thinks I’m a bot?
Also, how long does this usually last? An hour? A day?
And most importantly—how do I fix it? Do I just wait it out, or is there a way to get unblocked faster?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Ugh, the 'your ip has been temporarily blocked' message is the worst! Happened to me last week. Usually, it’s cuz the site thinks you’re spamming or logging in too fast.
Try waiting an hour or two—most temp blocks lift automatically. If not, restarting your router might give you a new IP.
Also, check if you’re using a VPN. Some sites hate those.
Yeah, this sucks. Got the same error last month. Turns out I was clicking too fast and the site flagged me as a bot.
Temp blocks usually last 24 hours max. If you’re desperate, try using mobile data or a different network.
Or just... chill for a bit. Annoying, but it’ll pass.
Hey! So the 'your ip has been temporarily blocked' thing can happen for a few reasons:
- Too many failed logins
- Suspicious activity (like rapid page refreshes)
- Shared IP (common in offices/dorms)
Most sites unblock you after a few hours. If not, contact their support. Pro tip: use a tool like WhatIsMyIP to check if your IP changed after restarting your router.
lol welcome to the club. Sites get trigger-happy with blocks these days.
Usually lasts 1-4 hours. If you’re in a hurry, try a VPN (like NordVPN or ProtonVPN) to switch your IP.
But fair warning—some sites ban VPN IPs too. So it’s a gamble.
This happened to me when I was using a script to scrape data (oops). The 'your ip has been temporarily blocked' message is basically the site’s way of saying "slow down."
If you weren’t doing anything shady, just wait it out. Or email the site’s admin—sometimes they’ll whitelist you if it was a mistake.
Bro, same. Got blocked for "suspicious activity" just bc I opened too many tabs.
Temp blocks usually last 2-12 hours. If you’re on WiFi, turning it off/on might help. Or use your phone’s hotspot as a quick fix.
Sites are way too paranoid these days smh.
The 'your ip has been temporarily blocked' error is super common on high-security sites. Could be:
- Too many requests in short time
- VPN/proxy detected
- Someone else on your network messed up
Try flushing your DNS (google how) or just wait. Most blocks expire fast.
Wow, thanks for all the replies! Didn’t realize so many people dealt with this.
Update: I waited like 2 hours and the block lifted. Guess it was just a temp thing.
But now I’m curious—if I use a VPN, will I get blocked again? Some of you said sites hate VPNs. Anyone have a fav VPN that doesn’t get flagged as often?
Ugh, hate when this happens. Usually, it’s a rate-limiting thing. Like, the site thinks you’re DDoSing them or something.
Temp blocks vary—some lift in 30 mins, others take a day. If you’re blocked for no reason, tweet at the site’s support. Public shaming works sometimes lol.
