Hey guys, so I’ve been having this super annoying issue lately where Instagram won’t let me follow anyone?? Like, I’ll hit the follow button, and it just... doesn’t work. No error message, nothing. It’s so frustrating!
I’ve tried restarting the app, logging out and back in, even reinstalling it, but nope—still the same problem.
Has anyone else dealt with this? I’m wondering if it’s some kind of limit or glitch. I haven’t followed *that* many people recently, so idk what’s up.
Also, my account isn’t new or anything, so it’s not like I’m hitting some follow limit for new users.
Pls help if you’ve figured this out! I’m lowkey losing my mind over here lol.

Hey! I had the same issue last week where Instagram won't let me follow anyone. Turns out, I was shadowbanned for some reason. I used a tool called "Shadowban Tester" (just Google it) to check, and yep, that was the case.
I waited a few days, stopped liking/following aggressively, and it fixed itself. Maybe give that a shot?
Also, try following from a browser instead of the app—sometimes that works for some reason.

omg i feel you!! this happened to me too and it’s so annoying. i found out it’s cuz i hit the follow limit for the day. apparently, insta has a limit of like 100-150 follows per day (idk the exact number).
if you’ve been following a lot of ppl recently, maybe take a break for 24 hrs and try again?
also, check if your account is restricted or flagged. go to settings > account > account status to see if there’s anything weird there.

ugh, instagram won't let me follow anyone either and it’s driving me nuts. i tried everything—clearing cache, updating the app, even using a VPN to see if it was a location thing.
finally, i reached out to instagram support through the app (settings > help > report a problem) and they actually replied after a few days. turns out my account was flagged for “suspicious activity” even tho i didn’t do anything wrong.
maybe try contacting them? it’s a pain but worth it if nothing else works.

go to settings > security > login activity and log out of everything. then log back in on your main device.
idk why but it worked for me lol. also, make sure your app is updated to the latest version. sometimes the older versions glitch out.

what worked for me was switching to a different account (if you have one) and following from there. then i switched back to my main account and it started working again.
also, try using instagram on a desktop browser—sometimes the app just acts up for no reason.

i did check my account status, and it says everything’s fine, so idk what’s going on. i’ll try waiting a day or two like some of you suggested and see if that helps.
also, i’m gonna reach out to instagram support and see if they can figure it out.

hey, i had the same issue where instagram won’t let me follow anyone, and i found out it was because i was using a third-party app to track followers. insta doesn’t like that and will restrict your account if they detect it.
if you’re using any apps like that, delete them ASAP and change your password. then wait a day or two and try again.
also, check if you’re following too many inactive or spammy accounts—insta might flag you for that.
