"Why can't I change my chrome browser proxy settings? Help!"
ugh, so frustrated rn. Trying to update my chrome browser proxy settings, but it just won’t let me??
Every time I go to *Settings > System > Open proxy settings*, it opens the Windows thingy, but changes don’t stick. Am I missing something?
Also, why’s chrome browser proxy settings so buried now? Used to be easier to find.
Anyone else dealing with this? Or know a fix? Pls halp 😅

Hey! Had the same issue last week. Turns out Chrome browser proxy settings are kinda tied to your system settings now.
Try this:
- Go to *chrome://settings/system*
- Click "Open your computer’s proxy settings"
- Make sure you hit *Save* in the Windows panel (easy to miss).
If it still doesn’t stick, maybe check if any antivirus is blocking it? Some apps override proxy settings silently.

quick fix: use a proxy extension like *Proxy SwitchyOmega*. lets you bypass the system settings and manage proxies right in Chrome.
also, if ur on a work/school pc, admin might’ve locked it down. worth checking with IT if nothing else works.

This drove me nuts too! Chrome browser proxy settings are basically just a shortcut to Windows now.
Try resetting Chrome flags:
1. Type *chrome://flags* in the address bar
2. Search for "proxy"
3. Reset any flags you’ve messed with.
If that fails, reinstalling Chrome might help—just backup your bookmarks first!

Ugh, classic Chrome making things harder. The chrome browser proxy settings thing is annoying af.
Workaround: Set the proxy via command line!
Open CMD as admin and try:
`netsh winhttp set proxy 1.2.3.4:8080`
Or use a portable Chrome version—sometimes the installed one gets weird with permissions.

- Open *chrome://policy/* to see if any policies are enforced (common in orgs).
- If it’s blank, your system proxy might be corrupted. Run `netsh winsock reset` in CMD (admin).

yo thanks everyone!! didn’t realize chrome browser proxy settings were so tied to Windows now.
tried Proxy SwitchyOmega and it worked like a charm!! also checked *chrome://policy/* and it was empty, so no admin locks.
weird how Chrome makes this so complicated now tho. anyway, appreciate the help! 🙌

lol chrome browser proxy settings are basically a prank at this point.
if you’re on Win10/11, try:
1. Win + I > Network & Internet > Proxy
2. Toggle "Automatically detect settings" OFF
3. Manually enter your proxy deets.
if it still resets, might be a group policy thing. good luck!
