For a no-fuss socks proxy server, I’d recommend TorGuard.

Their SOCKS5 proxies are quick, and they’ve got a ton of locations.

Uptime’s been rock-solid for me, and they’re pretty transparent about their no-logging policy.

Only gripe is their UI could be cleaner, but once it’s set up, you’re golden.
