Anyone else struggling with Switchy Proxy setup? Need help troubleshooting!

Hey everyone,

Sooo, I’ve been trying to set up switchy proxy for like, forever now, and I’m lowkey losing my mind. 😅

I followed the docs, but it’s just not working for me. Like, the proxy connects, but then my browser just times out or something? Idk if I’m missing a step or if it’s just me being dumb lol.

Anyone else struggling with switchy proxy setup? Or maybe someone who’s got it working can drop some tips?

Also, does it work better with certain browsers? I’m on Chrome rn, but idk if that’s the issue.

Pls help a noob out before I yeet my laptop out the window. 🙏

Thanks in advance!
Hey! I feel your pain, switchy proxy can be a bit of a headache at first. One thing that worked for me was double-checking the proxy settings in Chrome. Sometimes the port or IP gets messed up.

Also, try using FoxyProxy as an alternative—it’s way more user-friendly and might save you some stress. It’s available for Chrome and Firefox.

Good luck, and don’t yeet the laptop just yet! 😅
Yo, I had the same issue with switchy proxy timing out. Turns out, my firewall was blocking it. Maybe check your antivirus or firewall settings?

Also, I switched to Firefox, and it worked smoother for some reason. Chrome can be finicky with proxies sometimes.

Hope that helps!
Hey there! I’ve been using switchy proxy for a while, and it’s definitely tricky at first. One thing that helped me was clearing my browser cache and cookies before setting it up.

Also, make sure your proxy server is actually active and not overloaded. Sometimes the issue isn’t with switchy proxy but the server itself.

If all else fails, try Proxy SwitchyOmega—it’s like switchy proxy but with better UI and fewer headaches.
Ugh, switchy proxy is such a pain, right? I struggled with it too until I realized I was using the wrong authentication method. Double-check if your proxy requires a username/password—sometimes that’s the missing piece.

Also, try using a different browser like Brave or Edge. Chrome can be weird with proxy extensions.

Hang in there, you’ll figure it out!
Hey! I had the same timeout issue with switchy proxy, and it drove me nuts. Turns out, my ISP was throttling the connection. I switched to a VPN (NordVPN works great) and then set up the proxy, and it worked like a charm.

Maybe give that a shot? Also, make sure your proxy settings match exactly what your provider gave you. One typo can mess it all up.
OMG, thank you all so much for the tips! I tried clearing my cache and cookies, and it actually helped a bit. Still timing out sometimes, though.

I’m gonna try FoxyProxy and see if that works better for me. Also, gonna check my firewall settings—didn’t even think about that.

Quick question: does anyone know if switchy proxy works better with a specific VPN? I’m thinking of trying NordVPN like someone suggested.

Thanks again, y’all are lifesavers! 🙌
Switchy proxy can be a nightmare, but don’t give up! One thing that helped me was using a tool like Proxy Tester to check if the proxy is actually working before setting it up in the browser.

Also, try disabling other extensions temporarily—sometimes they conflict with switchy proxy.

Good luck, and let us know if you figure it out!
