Subject: Looking for the best web proxy – any recs?

Hey folks!

Trying to find the best web proxy that’s both fast and doesn’t feel like it’s from the stone age. Need it mainly to bypass some annoying restrictions at work/school (you know how it is lol).

Any tried-and-tested favorites? Bonus points if it’s free or at least doesn’t break the bank.

Also, how’s the privacy on these things? Don’t wanna trade speed for getting my data sold off.

Thanks in advance!

(ps. if you’ve got a horror story about a *bad* proxy, I’m all ears too 😆)
If you're looking for the best web proxy that's fast and doesn't suck, try HideMyAss (HMA). It’s got free and paid options, and the speed is decent for bypassing restrictions.

Privacy-wise, they claim not to log your data, but I’d still be cautious with free versions.

Pro tip: Avoid sketchy proxies that pop up in ads—they’re usually malware traps. Learned that the hard way 😅
Yo, I’ve been using ProtonVPN’s free tier as a web proxy alternative. It’s not *technically* a proxy, but it gets the job done for school/work blocks.

Speed’s okay, and their privacy policy is solid (Swiss-based, so they care about data).

Downside? Free version has limited servers. But if you just need a quick fix, it’s one of the best web proxy-like options out there.
For a no-frills, free best web proxy, check out CroxyProxy. It works right in your browser, no install needed.

Speed’s hit or miss depending on traffic, but it’s great for quick access to blocked sites.

Privacy? Eh, don’t log into sensitive stuff. It’s fine for casual browsing though.

Horror story: Once used a "free" proxy that injected ads into EVERY page. Never again.
I’d recommend Windscribe’s built-in proxy feature (R.O.B.E.R.T.). It’s fast, and you can customize what it blocks.

Not totally free, but the free plan gives you 10GB/month. Privacy is top-notch—they’re transparent about no logging.

Bonus: Works on Netflix too if you’re into that.

Avoid "unblocker" sites though. Most are just phishing scams.
Lol, I feel you on the work/school restrictions.

Best web proxy I’ve found is Psiphon. It’s designed for censorship bypass, so it’s reliable.

Speed can lag sometimes, but it’s free and doesn’t sell your data (as far as I know).

Just don’t use it for anything illegal—school blocks are one thing, but don’t push it 😆
Wow, thanks for all the recs! Definitely gonna try CroxyProxy and Psiphon first since they’re free.

Quick Q: Anyone know if these work on mobile too? My school’s WiFi blocks everything, even on my phone.

Also, big yikes to the horror stories—guess I’ll steer clear of random proxy sites 😬
If you want speed + privacy, pay for a cheap VPN like Surfshark and use it as a proxy.

Free proxies are risky—most are slow or shady.

But if you’re dead set on free, try KProxy. It’s basic but works in a pinch.

Horror story: Used a "free" proxy once that redirected me to a fake PayPal page. Yeah, no.
