"HTTP Error 405 Reason: Method Not Allowed – What’s Causing This and How to Resolve It?"
Hey guys,
So I keep getting this *http error 405 reason: method not allowed* when trying to POST data to an API. Super annoying!
Anyone know why this happens? I checked the endpoint, and it *should* accept POST requests, but nope—405 every time.
Is it a server-side thing? Maybe misconfigured permissions? Or am I just dumb and missing something obvious?
Tried googling but most fixes are like "just change the method lol" – but that’s not an option for me.
Help a dev out! 🙏

Hey! I ran into the http error 405 reason: method not allowed last week. Turns out, the server was blocking POST requests because of CORS.
Try adding `Access-Control-Allow-Methods: POST` to your server headers. If you're using Node/Express, check your CORS config.
Also, Postman can sometimes cache old headers—clear that or try a fresh request.

Had this exact issue! For me, it was a dumb typo in the endpoint URL.
Postman was adding a trailing slash, and the server freaked out. Removed it, and boom—no more http error 405 reason: method not allowed.

http error 405 reason: method not allowed can also happen if the server’s HTTP method whitelist is messed up.
If you’re using Nginx/Apache, check the config for `limit_except` or `AllowMethods`.
Or, if it’s a REST API, maybe the endpoint just doesn’t exist for POST. Try hitting it with GET first to see if it’s alive.
