"Has anyone tried ScrapingBee for web scraping? How does it compare?"
Hey folks,
I’ve been hearing a lot about ScrapingBee lately and wanted to see if anyone here has actually used it.
How does it stack up against other tools like Scrapy or BeautifulSoup?
I’m mostly curious about how well it handles JS-heavy sites and if the proxy rotation actually works to avoid bans.
Also, is it worth the $$$ compared to rolling your own solution?
Any real-world experiences would be awesome!
(Also, lol @ my typo—meant *ScrapingBee* but my fingers had other plans.)
I’ve used ScrapingBee for a few months now, and it’s solid for JS-heavy sites. The proxy rotation works pretty well—I’ve had fewer bans compared to when I was using Scrapy with my own proxies.
That said, it’s not perfect. Sometimes the delays are annoying, and it’s def pricier than rolling your own solution. But if you’re lazy like me and don’t wanna deal with proxy management, it’s worth it.
For alternatives, check out Zyte (formerly Scrapinghub) or Apify.
ScrapingBee is decent, but tbh, I switched back to BeautifulSoup + Selenium for most stuff.
The proxy rotation is nice, but I found it overkill for simple projects. If you’re scraping a ton of JS-heavy pages, though, it’s a lifesaver.
Price-wise, it’s mid-tier. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive.
Haven’t tried ScrapingBee yet, but I’ve heard good things about its API simplicity.
For JS-heavy sites, Puppeteer or Playwright might be better if you’re comfortable coding. But if you want a no-hassle solution, ScrapingBee seems legit.
Anyone know how it compares to Bright Data?
I used ScrapingBee for a client project last year. The proxy rotation worked like a charm—no bans at all.
But yeah, it’s $$$. If you’re just doing small-scale scraping, you’re better off with free tools + a VPN.
For JS-heavy stuff, it’s great tho. Saves a ton of time.
Thanks for all the insights, everyone! Super helpful.
I think I’ll give ScrapingBee a shot for my next project—sounds like it’s worth the convenience for JS-heavy sites.
Also, gonna check out Playwright based on the recs here. Appreciate it!
(And yeah, still laughing at my typo. *ScrapingBee*, not whatever my fingers were trying to type.)
ScrapingBee is my go-to for quick jobs. The API is super easy to use, and yeah, it handles JS sites way better than raw Scrapy.
Proxy rotation is solid, but I’ve had a few hiccups with captchas. Still, worth the money if you’re doing this professionally.
Alternatives? Maybe check out Octoparse for a more GUI-friendly option.
Meh, I wasn’t super impressed with ScrapingBee. It’s fine, but for the price, I expected fewer timeouts.
If you’re tech-savvy, just use Playwright with some residential proxies. Cheaper and more control.
But if you’re not into coding, I guess it’s an okay option.
ScrapingBee’s proxy rotation is legit—no complaints there.
But tbh, I still use BeautifulSoup for most things because it’s free and I’m cheap lol.
If you’re dealing with a ton of anti-bot stuff, though, ScrapingBee is a good shout.
I’ve been using ScrapingBee for a few weeks, and it’s been smooth sailing. The JS rendering is on point, and the proxies are reliable.
Price is steep, but time is money, right?
For alternatives, maybe look at ScraperAPI or Smartproxy.
