Has anyone tried using Xbox HomeProxy for better connection speeds? or Is Xbox HomeProxy still a reli

"Does Xbox HomeProxy actually improve ping and reduce lag?"

Hey guys,

Been struggling with high ping lately and heard some ppl recommend xbox homeproxy.

Does it actually help or just placebo? My connection’s decent but spikes like crazy in COD.

Also, is it safe to use for online gaming? Don’t wanna risk a ban or anything.

If it works, what’s the best setup? Tried it once but didn’t notice much difference—maybe I configured it wrong?

Thanks for any tips!
I tried xbox homeproxy for a while and honestly, it’s hit or miss.
If your ISP has bad routing, it *might* help by redirecting traffic.
But if your base connection is unstable, no proxy will fix that.

For COD spikes, try a wired connection first or QoS settings on your router.
Also, check out ExitLag—it’s more reliable for gaming.

No ban risk tho, it’s just a network tweak.
Placebo for most ppl lol.
xbox homeproxy won’t magically fix bad internet.
It’s just a fancy VPN-ish thing.

If your ping spikes, run a bufferbloat test (google it).
Might need a better router or tweak settings.

Safe? Yeah, but don’t expect miracles.
Used xbox homeproxy for a month—zero difference.
What *did* help was switching to Cloudflare’s DNS (1.1.1.1) and using a gaming VPN like WTFast.

Also, check if your modem’s firmware is updated.
Old firmware can cause random lag.
It depends on your location and ISP.
xbox homeproxy *can* reduce ping if your ISP’s routing is trash.
But if you’re already close to servers, nah.

Try it for a week and run ping tests (use PingPlotter).
If no improvement, ditch it.

Bans? Never heard of anyone getting banned for it.
Bro, just get a powerline adapter if your WiFi sucks.
xbox homeproxy is overhyped unless you’re in a region with terrible routing.

For COD, enable DMZ on your Xbox IP (google how).
Reduced my spikes by half.
If you’re tech-savvy, xbox homeproxy *might* help.
But 99% of gamers won’t notice squat.

Try this first:
- Test ping to servers using “Looking Glass” tools (your ISP might have one).
- Use Ethernet, not WiFi.
- Disable background downloads on Xbox.
It’s not a scam, but it’s not a fix-all either.
xbox homeproxy works best if your ISP throttles gaming traffic.

Also, check for packet loss (cmd: ping -t google.com).
If you see drops, blame your ISP, not the proxy.
Honestly? Skip xbox homeproxy and try NordVPN’s Meshnet.
Way easier to set up and actually lowered my ping in COD.

Or just move closer to your router lol.
WiFi extenders are cheaper than messing with proxies.
Thanks for all the replies!
Tried ExitLag like someone suggested and my ping dropped by 20ms.
Still get occasional spikes tho—might be my ISP like y’all said.

Gonna test Cloudflare DNS next.
Also, anyone know if xbox homeproxy works better with specific ISPs? Mine’s Spectrum.
