"Having issues? Need to turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone?"
Hey guys, so I’ve been trying to turn off a security web proxy on my iPhone, but it’s kinda stuck? Like, I go to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the (i) next to my network, and scroll to HTTP Proxy… but the "Off" option is grayed out.
Anyone else run into this?
I’m guessing it’s maybe a profile or something forcing it? Or is there another way to turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone that I’m missing?

Hey! Had the same issue last week. Turns out it was a VPN profile messing with my settings.
Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and check if there’s a profile installed. If so, delete it!
After that, you should be able to turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone normally. Hope that helps!
Ugh, proxies can be such a pain. If the "Off" option is grayed out, it’s 100% a profile or admin control.
Try resetting your network settings (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings).
Warning: This’ll wipe saved Wi-Fi passwords, but it usually fixes weird proxy issues.
Yo, same problem here! Found out my work email installed a profile that locked the proxy.
If you’re using a work/school phone, might need to ask IT to turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone. Annoying, but they sometimes force it for "security."
Check if you’re on a public or corporate Wi-Fi. Some networks enforce proxies and won’t let you turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone.
Try switching to mobile data or another network to see if the option unlocks. If it does, it’s the network, not your phone.
Had this happen when I was testing some ad-blocking apps. If you’ve installed anything like WeBlock or AdGuard, they might’ve set up a proxy.
Go to Settings > Safari > Extensions and disable anything suspicious. Then reboot your phone.
If you’re still stuck, try this:
1. Forget the Wi-Fi network (tap "Forget This Network" in Wi-Fi settings).
2. Reboot your iPhone.
3. Reconnect to the Wi-Fi.
Sometimes that clears the proxy lock. Let me know if it works!
Weirdly, I fixed this by toggling Airplane mode on/off. No idea why, but it un-grayed the "Off" option for me.

Turns out some random app I downloaded ages ago had installed a profile without me realizing. Deleted it and now I can turn off a security web proxy on my iPhone no problem.

If it’s a school/work device, you might be SOL unless you get admin access. They lock that stuff down hard.
But if it’s your personal phone, try restoring from a backup before the proxy was forced. iTunes or iCloud should do the trick.
