How Do You Set Up a Linux Curl Proxy for Your Requests?

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to figure out how to set up a linux curl proxy for my requests and could really use some guidance.

I know that curl is a powerful tool, but I’m not exactly sure how to configure it to route through a proxy.

Do I just add some flags to the command line?

Are there different options for HTTP vs. HTTPS proxies that I should be aware of?

Also, if anyone has tips on testing the setup to make sure it’s working correctly, that would be super helpful!

Thanks in advance for your help! 😊
Thanks for all the helpful tips, everyone!

I’m going to try that test with `ifconfig.me` to see if my linux curl proxy is working properly.

If I run into any issues, I’ll be back with questions! 😊
I usually set up my linux curl proxy and then run a few tests with different URLs.

If it works for HTTP but not HTTPS, double-check your proxy settings.

Some proxies only support one type!
To check if your linux curl proxy is working, you can do a request against a service that shows your IP, like `http://ifconfig.me`.

Just run `curl -x http://yourproxy:port http://ifconfig.me` and see if the IP matches your proxy's.
Setting up a linux curl proxy is pretty straightforward!

You just need to use the `-x` or `--proxy` flag followed by your proxy address.

For example: `curl -x http://yourproxy:port http://example.com`.

Make sure to specify if it’s HTTP or HTTPS!
If you’re using a SOCKS proxy, you can specify it with `curl` too by using the `socks5://` scheme.

Just remember to adjust your command accordingly.

Good luck with your linux curl proxy setup!
Yeah, definitely use the `-x` option for your linux curl proxy setup.

For HTTPS, you might need to use the `--proxy-insecure` flag if your proxy has issues with SSL verification.

It’s a good idea to test it with a simple request first to see if it’s working!
