I’ve been trying to figure out how do you turn off a proxy server on my Windows 10 PC, but nothing’s working. I followed some online guides—went to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy, then toggled off the "Use a proxy server" option. But somehow, it keeps re-enabling itself??
Also, checked the registry (scary stuff lol) and group policies, but no luck. Am I missing something?

P.S. Using a VPN too—could that be messing with it? Idk, just throwing it out there.

Weirdly, my antivirus (Avast) was overriding my proxy settings. Check if yours has a "web shield" or similar feature messing with it.
Also, try disabling the proxy in Internet Options (Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN settings).
Yo, same thing happened to me! The fix was stupid simple—just restart your PC after turning off the proxy. Sometimes Windows doesn’t apply changes until a reboot.
