Has anyone else reached that point in their car search where every car you look at starts to look suspicious and you can't tell if you're being smart or just paranoid? I've been at this for over a month now and I think I've seen maybe twelve different cars, everything from a 2017 Nissan Patrol to a 2019 Ford Explorer, and I've walked away from every single one for one reason or another. One had a weird noise when I turned the wheel, another had mismatched paint on the door jambs, another had a seller who couldn't explain why the mileage seemed low for the year. My friends are starting to give me a hard time about being too picky and honestly I'm starting to wonder if they're right. I've been reading so many horror stories on here about people buying cars with hidden damage or rolled back odometers that I feel like I'm looking for problems instead of looking for a car. The thing is, I know I'm not a mechanic, so maybe I'm seeing things that aren't actually issues, or maybe I'm missing things that actually are serious. I'm thinking maybe I need to change my approach and instead of trying to be an expert myself, I should just find a car that seems decent and then let a real expert tell me if it's worth buying. I've been looking at services that do Pre Purchase Car Inspection and I'm leaning toward just picking a car that looks promising, paying for a proper evaluation, and letting that report guide my decision instead of driving myself crazy second guessing every little thing. For those of you who have been through this, did you eventually hit a point where you just had to trust the inspection and make a decision, or did you keep searching until everything felt right?
I'm starting to think I've looked at too many cars and now I can't trust my own judgm
