"Is the Google Image Search API Still Available? Best Alternatives?"
Hey folks, so I’ve been digging around trying to find if the google image search api is still a thing. From what I can tell, Google kinda killed the old version, right? Or at least made it super restricted.
Anyone know if there’s still a way to use it without jumping through a million hoops?
If not, what’s the next best option? I’ve seen people mention Bing’s API or even some scraper tools, but idk if they’re as reliable.
Also, side note—why does Google make this stuff so complicated? Like, just let us search for images, man.

Yeah, the google image search api is pretty much dead for public use unless you're a big enterprise. Google locked it down hard.
If you need something similar, check out SerpAPI or ScraperAPI—they handle image searches pretty well. Not free, but way easier than dealing with Google's restrictions.
Bing's API is actually decent too, and their free tier is more generous.
Also, lol at Google making things complicated. They just don’t want randos scraping their data anymore.

I switched to using RapidAPI’s marketplace—they’ve got a few image search APIs that work well. Some are based on Bing, others on smaller engines.
Another hack? Use Google Custom Search JSON API and tweak it for images. It’s not perfect, but it’s something.

Honestly, the google image search api is a ghost now. Even if you find a way, the quotas are tiny.

The google image search api is pretty much dead for casual use. Google wants you to use their Cloud Vision API now, but it’s overkill for simple searches.
I’d recommend SerpAPI or Diffbot. They’re not free, but they save so much hassle.
And yeah, Google’s complexity is just their way of saying "go away" to small devs.
