Hey folks!

I’ve been trying to find a good extension to notify when page updated but haven’t had much luck. There are so many options out there, and I don’t wanna waste time testing them all.

Anyone got recommendations? Ideally, something lightweight that doesn’t slow down my browser. Free would be awesome, but I’m cool with paid if it’s *really* reliable.

Also, does it work for *any* page or just specific sites? I need it for random blogs and forums that don’t update often.

Thanks in advance! You guys always come thru with the best tips.

(PS: If you’ve used one that sucked, lmk so I can avoid it lol.)
I've been using Distill Web Monitor for ages and it's been solid.

Works on pretty much any page, blogs, forums, even random sites. You can set it to check for changes every few mins or hours.

It's not *super* lightweight but doesn't hog resources either. Free version is decent, but paid unlocks more frequent checks.

Definitely better than some others I've tried that just... stop working lol.
Check out PageProbe! Super simple extension to notify when page updated.

It's lightweight and free, but kinda basic. Works for any site though.

Downside? You gotta keep the tab open for it to monitor. But if you're like me and have 50 tabs open anyway, no biggie.
Yo, Visualping is my go-to. Not exactly an extension, but a tool that emails you when a page changes.

Works for *any* site, and you can set how often it checks. Free tier is limited, but paid is worth it if you need reliability.

Bonus: No browser slowdown since it's not an extension.
I wasted so much time on crappy extensions to notify when page updated until I found Update Scanner (Firefox only).

It's free, lightweight, and does the job. You can customize how often it checks and what counts as a "change."

Only downside? No Chrome version. But if you're on Firefox, it's a no-brainer.
Thanks for all the suggestions, folks!

I tried Distill and Visualping so far. Distill’s a bit heavy but works well, and Visualping’s email alerts are handy.

Quick Q: Anyone know if Update Scanner has a Chrome alternative? I’m stuck on Chrome for work.

Also, shoutout to whoever warned about Page Monitor—saved me a headache lol.
Honestly, most extensions to notify when page updated are hit or miss.

I’ve had luck with Web Alert, but it’s a bit fiddly to set up. Once it’s running though, it’s reliable.

Free version lets you monitor a few pages, which might be enough for your needs.
If you’re cool with a paid option, ChangeTower is *super* reliable.

It’s not an extension but a web service that tracks changes and sends alerts. Works on any page, and you can set super specific triggers.

Pricey tho, so only worth it if you *really* need it.
Avoid Page Monitor (the Chrome one). Used to be good but now it’s glitchy as hell.

Instead, try Follow That Page—it’s simple and does what it says. Free, lightweight, and works on most sites.

Not the fanciest, but gets the job done.
